The Baltimore Sign Project integrated design as a learning tool into classroom curriculum.
I developed typographic based lesson plans to teach middle school students hand lettering skills over the course of several workshops.
I collaborated with a small group of talented students at the Baltimore Design School, interested in lettering for personal and professional reasons.
Students successfully completed a process-oriented workbook and implemented their skills to create unique hand painted signs.
The project focused on individual letter development and reflected Baltimore's own relationship to hand lettered signs.
Students gained insight into the visual history of Charm City and used design as a tool for personal growth.
This project was funded through a grant from MICA's Community Arts Partnership.
